The Robin Theatre is thrilled to present The Sweet Water Warblers! This trio of beloved Michigan songbirds, Rachael Davis, Lindsay Lou and May Erlewine, will blow you away!

"When they finally gelled into the potent force they have become, it was the most natural coming together – three singing sirens and multi-instrumentalists whose repertoire swings from gospel and bluegrass to soul and even joyful interpretations of pop.

With three-part vocal harmonies that are sublime, they trade instruments including mountain fiddle and banjo, uke, guitar and double bass."

6th Annual Art & Craft Beer Fest6th Annual Art & Craft Beer Fest

Cadillac Room (Inside Riverview Church)
1115 S. Washington Ave.
Lansing, MI  48910 Map

The 6th Annual Art & Craft BeerFest will be held on Saturday, January 27th from 5pm to 10pm (4pm for VIP). The Festival will be kicked off with a ceremonial firkin tapping at 5pm.

Art & Craft Beer Fest is an indoor art, comedy, short films and music festival. All venues are located on the main strip in REO Town, just a short walk from one another. It's the best kind of winter festival because you only go outside to go to the next venue.

This year we changed things up a bit by adding comedy and short films to the festival for the first time. How the festival is laid out this year, The Cadillac Room will have acoustic music, Market Commons will have live bands, Robin Theatre will show short films and in heated tent behind REO Town Pub will hosted the comedy show. All the venues will have a wide range of amazing art.

CHECK-IN LOCATION
Check-in is at The Cadillac Room (Inside Riverview Church)
1115 S Washington Ave, Lansing, MI 48910

Much like last several years, we’ll be featuring beers only from Right Brain Brewing Company in Traverse City. For the non-beer drinkers, we have cider from Blake's Hard Cider and variety of Michigan wines.

With any festival good food is a must, we have some great food vendors for you. This year we have Pie Hole Pizza Truck. On top of those Good Truckin' Diner and Saddleback BBQ will stay opener later for the festival.

You've seen Summer Love. You've seen #LoveLansing. Get ready for the anti-love event you've been waiting for: Complaints Board Open Mic! Let's all get together and be bitter about things! Anything and everything is fair game. Complain about fashion trends, social media, gross sugar cookies, traffic, getting stood up, the 50 Shades of Grey series, rugburns, stupid lawn chairs, pretentious and overly confident poets, and much much more!

The featured performer tonight will be the 1st Place Winner of the RCAH Center for Poetry's 2nd Poetry Slam!

To sign up to read please send us a facebook message.
We ask each poet to read/perform one piece. The features will both do two each and so will our musicians.

The Poetry Room events have loose dress codes that are encouraged, but not enforced:
Wear the outfit you've always been told not to wear. Break out the jelly shoes, the blue eyeshadow, and the clip-on tails! Be as out-of-fashion as possible.
P.s. Masaki, you are allowed and encouraged to wear your favorite XXL basketball jersey tonight.

Tatiana Huezo/México/2016/105 min

In Spanish with English Subtitles

A poignant doc by celebrated filmmaker Tatiana Huezo, Tempestnarrates the parallel journey of two women. Mirror-like, it reflects the impact of the violence and impunity that afflict Mexico. Through their voices, we are drawn into the heart of their feelings, steeped in loss and pain, but also love, dignity, and resistance.

On a normal day on her way to work, Miriam is arrested on suspicion of human trafficking. While the government reports that a criminal gang has been rounded up, in reality a group of innocent Mexicans has fallen victim to the vagaries of a corrupt system. After her detention, she is handed over to a private prison controlled by the Organized Crime, where she is forced to pay a monthly fee to remain alive.

Adela works as a clown in a traveling circus. Ten years ago, her life was irreversibly transformed; every night during the show, she evokes her missing daughter, Monica. Tempest has screened at more than 60 film festivals worldwide, collecting awards in Berlin, Lima, Havana, Madrid, Cork, and many others.

Combining over 100 hours of interviews as well as never-before-seen archival footage and photographs, this documentary tracks the musical evolution of a region that has forged its own unique identity between two countries.
